Oriental Rug Cleaning
Our clients come to us with a multitude of different Oriental Rug Types from around the world. Whether the rug came from Afghanistan, Turkey, India, Persia, China or right here in the United States, the one common bond of rug owners is their love for their Oriental Rugs. They’ve purchased them while on vacations, business trips, while serving our country in the Armed Services or inherited them from family members. However they’ve acquired their rugs, we can always see an emotional connection between the owners and their precious oriental rugs. This is why we go to extreme measures to make sure we handle them with the same love and care.
Industry experts believe an owner should clean their Oriental Rug every 1-3 years depending on where the rug is located in the home and how much foot traffic the rug encounters. One way a rug owner can help keep their rug in optimal appearance and preserve the life of a rug is simply by doing a weekly vacuuming. We recommend using an attachment on a vacuum cleaner instead of using the beater bar. This greatly reduces the stress put on the rug fibers while still getting a good, consistent cleaning of dust particulates.
Process
Once we bring in an Oriental Rug for a professional cleaning, we begin by doing a pre-inspection report to note any areas of concern or damage to a rug. After the report, we do an initial vacuuming on the front and back to take away the surface dirt and grim.
A dual stage- dusting procedure stands us apart from the competition. First, we lay the rugs face down on grids and run a “duster” over the backs of the rugs. This gently beats the back of the rug knocking all the dry soil through the grids where we sweep away. Then we flip the rugs over and do an “air dusting”. This procedure releases all remaining dry soil possible away from the rugs fibers. After all the rugs we’ve cleaned, we’re still amazed that when you apply both dustings at how much “life” the rugs gain back.
After dusting, we then soak our non-tufted rugs in a bath for optimal cleaning. This in essence gives each rug their own day at the spa. After marinating for 15-25 minutes, we remove the rugs and place them on our raised surface for further cleaning. Once here, we use counter rotating brushes that clean each side of the fiber for unsurpassed results.
After rinsing the rugs, we then wring out the water and rinse again. Next, we apply a softener and place for water extraction. Our extraction process removes 90-95% of all moisture in 3 minutes.
Your rugs are then placed on a hanging rack inside a temperature controlled drying room. The rugs will stay there roughly 8-12 hours and then are checked to see if completely dry. Further time will be added on the racks if needed, however, after 12 hours virtually all Oriental and Persians rugs are ready for pickup or delivery.
Once removed off the racks, the rugs go through a grooming process, and a post inspection, before being prepared for delivery or pickup. Our rugs are then rolled, wrapped and ready to go home for your enjoyment. You will be able to see and smell the difference of your completely cleaned rug from the inside out.
